EMPOWERING CLIENTS AND CLINICIANS
DIVERSE CLINICIANS AND STRONGER COMMUNITIES
CREATING PATHWAYS TO EQUITABLE CARE
Making therapy accessible, affirming, and a path toward collective healing.
Yes We Go to Therapy strives to break down barriers to mental health services by providing financial support, advocacy, and education, empowering individuals to seek and receive the care they deserve.
We envision a world where every individual, regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status, has the opportunity to thrive mentally and emotionally.
We aim to create a society where culturally responsive and culturally relevant therapy is recognized as a fundamental right, and where the stigma around mental health is eradicated in all communities.
The Heart of Yes We Go to Therapy
Yes
A bold affirmation that challenges stigma and acknowledges that mental health care is necessary, valid, and beneficial. It pushes back against hesitation, shame, and cultural barriers that often discourage individuals from seeking therapy.
We
A collective statement emphasizing community, representation, and inclusivity. This word speaks to the shared experiences of underserved and underrepresented groups, reinforcing the idea that mental health is a communal priority, not just an individual one.
Go
An action-oriented word that normalizes therapy as part of a healthy lifestyle. It implies movement, accessibility, and commitment, reinforcing that seeking help is a proactive and powerful choice!
to Therapy
The heart of the message, explicitly naming therapy as a valuable and necessary resource. By saying “therapy” outright, this name works to destigmatize mental health care, making it clear that professional support is something people deserve, not something to be ashamed of.
Founder's Story
My journey to becoming a fully licensed clinician was not easy, it took nearly 10 years. After graduating with my degree in Counseling I wanted to be fully licensed as a therapist, but I couldn’t fathom paying for both supervision and childcare.
Childcare won, and my dreams of becoming a licensed therapist had to be put on the back burner. That reality is not unique, it’s the story of so many aspiring clinicians who are forced to choose between their families, financial stability, and their calling to serve.
When I opened my private practice, in 2016, I thought the hardest part would be building a caseload. What I didn’t expect was how isolating it could feel as a Black woman therapist searching for community, mentorship, and culturally responsive trainings. Too often, I found myself in rooms where my perspective wasn’t represented or where the training didn’t match the realities my clients and I lived every day.
Additionally, I sat with people who bravely came to therapy ready to do the work, only to have to pause their sessions because January 1st brought a new insurance deductible they couldn’t afford. I witnessed clients lose access to mental health care when a job loss also meant the loss of insurance benefits. Anyone that knows me can tell you that I am a problem solver and if I cannot find a table, I will find a way to create one. The table that I wanted to create did not just include a seat for me, but plenty of room for others to sit and feast.
Yes We Go to Therapy was born out of those stories and the belief that access to therapy, community for clinicians, and culturally grounded training should not be a privilege but a right.
This mission is personal. It’s about ensuring that people, no matter their background or circumstances can say “Yes, we go to therapy” and truly mean it without shame or barrier. My hope is that this movement helps reshape the landscape of mental health so clients always have access to care, and clinicians always have the support they need to thrive.
Why Support Our Core Programs

Imagine being ready to ask for help, but having to choose between paying rent or paying for therapy. For too many people, this is the painful reality. At Yes We Go to Therapy, we believe no one should have to make that choice.
When you give, you change that story. Your monthly gift can cover a copay, ease the weight of an insurance deductible, or support a therapist in training who is working toward licensure. You are not only making therapy affordable, you are also helping build a diverse and culturally competent mental health workforce equipped to serve communities with compassion and understanding.
Every dollar becomes part of someone’s healing journey: a session they can now attend, a therapist who can continue their calling, a community that grows stronger through awareness and care.
With your support, hope becomes accessible and healing becomes possible for everyone.
